About Real-World Data
Real-world data are the data relating to areas such as patient health status and/or healthcare delivery not collected in conventional randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Examples include data from electronic health records, wearables, medical claims data, surveys, and registries. Real-world data are often used to supplement RCTs and can help support clinical decision making. A number of important topics relate to real-world data, including data integrity and quality assurance, distributed data and research networks, and reproducibility and replicability.
